I’ve gotten serious about cold process soap making again. I went on a soap making spree and had to buy a shelf to cure all the bars I made. I’d stand in the dining room looking at all the beautiful bars, breathe in the mix of scents: lemon, lavender, juniper. Ahhhh. Then reality hit. What the heck am I going to do with all this soap? So far husband hasn’t questioned the amount of soap that could keep our family and extended fam clean for a year or more. 🙄
I can thank Facebook for the answer. I was scrolling in February and saw a post for a cute boutique in the town I lived in before marrying J. The store was looking for new vendors of hand crafted items. They were preparing for an expansion that would offer more retail and workshop space. I applied and was excepted. My merch is there now waiting for the grand opening of the new section the beginning of June.
My mom designed the new label for me, printed them out and mailed them to me. I love it! It embraces my soap philosophy: natural, good quality, does what it’s supposed to – keep you clean. I have a fancy soap stamp to press my name into the side of the bars. I think it looks nice😬. I have some natural sisal soap saver bags and handmade cedar soap racks to accessorize.
I’m also selling Pocket Hugs. I started making these in February for a fundraiser at the mustang sanctuary. They are the perfect portable project for me. Completely hand sewn with love. I have a new fabric for spring with cute ladybugs and butterflies. I think these will do sell. Great little gift to let someone know your thinking of them.
Naturally self doubt has set in: no one will buy it, it’s not as nice as other soaps, I’m taking on to much…. I keep doing a mind reset. It’s in the boutique, I did the best of my ability, others have told me it’s a good product. So I say a prayer and keep soaping because there’s so many essential oil combos to try😆😆.
